Sumangali Seva Ashrama
Founder
Sumangali Seva Ashrama is a Voluntary organization and Registered under Karnataka Societies Act 1960. This organization is dedicated to the services of Down Trodden deserted women, Orphan children and economically weaker people in the society. Dr. S.G. Susheelamma the founder President and Smt.M.Kanthamma Secretary of this Organization, established this in the year 1975 with its Reg.No. 212/75-76. Its distinct style of functioning based on the principal of Gandhism has made it a well-respected and well-known organization both at the state and the national level.
Vision
A society where old aged live in comfort & dignity in the last phase of life, and children get love, care, and guidance which make them a good human being in future, empower distressed women and work to build a healthy, hunger free world.
Mission
- Establish care homes with Human facilities which ensure orphan children are trained enough to lead a self dependent life.
- Establish Educational institutions to provide free schooling to both BPL and orphaned children.
- To generate compassion among people, towards aged and special children.
- Establish old age homes where they get human love, care, comfort of living, medical facilities to lead a happy life.
- Ensure the women get their legal, human, social, economic and political rights through training, rehabilitation and empowerment.
- To protect human rights, ensure legal protection and support from the respective government for the aged and children.
- To form networks and institutionalize the various welfare oriented institutions and create a platform for their sustainability.
- Skill based trainings to women and youth for Livelihood enhancement.
- Facilitating/Organizing Campaigns for promoting literacy among adults.
- Promoting Lifestyle and health management systems through General health awareness, preventive and curative medical camps, HIV-AIDS, female infanticide and organizing special health camps for BPL communities through Mobile clinic services and Primary Health Centers.

Children
"Premananda Makkala Kuteera" is facilitating free food, shelter, clothing, education, sports, excursions, holiday camps, competitions, cultural activities, and celebrations of all religious and National festivals for 100 children.
In Rag-picker’s Rehabilitation Centre where 30 children are benefited with free nutritious food, cleanliness, non-formal education, vocational training, health, outing and incentive.
174 Angawadies in Bagalore Urban slums provides pre nursery education, nutritious food, health, mother’s awareness camps, Govt. schemes etc.
Women
In Punyakoti Vanaprasthashrama old age home 15 senior citizens are treated with shelter. love, care, food, yoga, meditation, outings and health.
50 women are housed in the “Souharda” short stay home with proper facilities like counseling, rehabilitation, health, training, excursion, marriage, in case she is a widow or divorcee remarriage to run a normal happy life.
For the development of rural women and surrounding communities formation of self help groups, basic literacy and numerals, savings, loaning, micro finance, skill development trainings, sustainable home based income generating activities, legal, gender, social, political, anti dowry laws, marriageable age, importance of gender equity, education to girl child, human rights awareness.
Education
Basavananda Higher Primary school and Sumangali Girls High school facilitating children free education, books, uniforms, scholarships along with inter school competitions, library, tour, health check ups.
To promote female literacy and support girls higher education Ashrama bore the expenses of their college fees, books and transport.
For the welfare of rural children Ashrama is supporting them by constructing schools, distributing free note books, uniforms and toys.
Health Managament
Two Primary Health Centres one at Cholanayakanahalli, and the other at Palace Guttahall which covers a population of 1,80,000 by providing immunization, antenatal and post natal check up, OPD, health awareness camps, free scanning.
Simultaneously, the Ashram operates a mobile van for providing mobile clinic services to Bangalore urban and rural district.
Future Plans
- To promote female education high schools, colleges and computer training centres to be constructed for lower strata of society and poor.
- Construction of Old Aged Home, each one to independently accommodate 100 persons.
- To implement plantation and rain water harvesting for environmental protection and improvement
- Housing scheme and toilets to families of below poverty line.
- For the welfare of children, women and old aged, the required financial help, Ashrama looking forward for the generous support of Donors towards the Corpus fund building.
